Mirror mirror on the wall, what is the latest beauty ingredient in the world? Activated-charcoal*, surprisingly. The blackest thing you can think of, the most unexpected one, after been used for medical purposes for years is finally now able to really transform your skin freeing it form toxins and pollutants (a win-win for who lives in big cities). So don’t be surprised if your cleansing routine will make you (temporarily) turn black, apparently activated-charcoal is the best thing that could have happened to your complexion. The reason why it is becoming so popular is because of its ability to act like a magnet to attract and absorb dirt and oil, lending itself to be added to cleansers, face masks, toothbrushes and even juices. Impurities just stick on it and get washed away in no-time. But, does it really works? I’ve been testing two different products, both cleansers and so far, it’s a double thumbs up, I’m so happily satisfied with the result.

On a daily basis I’ve been using the new Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Cleansing Gel, a unique formula that is so black that the first time I was a bit scared of putting it on my face.  But the outcome is truly amazing. Usually when heat and humidity arrive my pores get clogged but this time it didn’t happen. On the contrary my skin feels fresh, comfortable and radiant and stays like this for all the day.

Even so, girls can never get rid of pimples, can we? And this is why I tried a new Swiss cleansing product, the Mavex Superdetox Treatment, an activated vegetable charcoal black soap that really gets rid of all the impurities. I use it every night when my skin breaks out or three times per week to keep my complexion smoother, luminous and healthier. 

Now I’m about to try the Julep Konjac Sponge. I’ve read wonderful things about it. It act as a light exfoliator (it is made from the fibrous root of the konjac plant) and is infused with activated-charcoal powder. 

That said, I guess the beauty color of the year will be black.

L’ultima cosa che chiunque avrebbe mai associato al mondo della bellezza ne è, da quest’anno, il protagonista indiscusso. Tanto nero da essere in contrasto con qualunque canone di pulizia, il carbone vegetale è sorprendentemente diventato un ingrediente chiave delle detersione quotidiana grazie alla sua incredibile capacità di assorbire tossine e sostanze inquinanti. Perfetto per chi vive nelle grandi città (e non solo), questo attivo è veramente in grado di rivoluzionare l’aspetto e le condizioni della pelle. Quindi non stupitevi se la vostra routine di bellezza vi farà (temporaneamente) diventare nere come la pece, il carbone vegetale agisce come una calamita che attira e assorbe lo sporco e l'oleosità in eccesso, prestandosi quindi ad essere aggiunto a detergenti, maschere, spazzolini da denti e anche succhi ed estratti. Le impurità si attaccano ad esso e vengono sciacquate via con l’acqua. Ma, davvero funziona? Dopo un iniziale scetticismo e dopo tre settimane di prova di due diversi prodotti detergenti mi sono dovuta ricredere, il risultato c’è ed è abbastanza evidente.

Ogni giorno, tutte le mattine e le sere, ho usato il nuovo City Block Purifying Charcoal Cleansing Gel di Clinique, una formula a base di carbone vegetale tanto nera da intimorire un po’ alla prima applicazione. Eppure, una volta sorpassati i pregiudizi, il nuovo City Block Purifying Charcoal Cleansing Gel è davvero fenomenale, deterge in profondità e controlla l’oleosità in eccesso senza aggredire la pelle, lasciandola fresca e morbida e svolgendo un’azione lenitiva. Di solito quando il caldo e l'umidità arrivano i miei pori si ribellano, ma questa volta non è successo. Al contrario la mia pelle è luminosa e pulita e rimane così per tutto il giorno.

Detto ciò è anche vero che purtroppo noi ragazze non riusciamo mai a sbarazzarci di quei brufoli di troppo che di tanto in tanto fanno capolino e questo è il motivo per cui ho provato un nuovo prodotto di pulizia svizzero, il Superdetox Treatment di Mavex, un sapone a base di carbone vegetale attivato che libera la pelle da tutte le scorie, le impurità, le sostanze nocive e le tossine dell’inquinamento ambientale. Io lo uso ogni sera, quando la mia pelle si ribella o altrimenti solo tre volte alla settimana per mantenere la mia carnagione più liscia, luminosa e più sana.

Ora sto per provare la Julep Konjac Sponge. Ho letto cose meravigliose su di essa, pare agisca come un delicato esfoliante (è composta dalla radice fibrosa della pianta konjac) ed è intrisa di polvere di carbone attivato. Presto vi farò sapere qualcosa di più.

Detto questo, credo proprio che il nero sia il colore beauty dell'anno.
