Into the Blue
Non è un mistero, il blu in tutte le sue declinazioni ha dominato le passerelle della SS14 e si è fatto presto il protagonista dell’estate. I beauty brand lo hanno omaggiato con palette in tinta* e i makeup artist internazionali hanno creato look d’impatto ma pur sempre portabili. Non essendo io una professionista del maquillage ho voluto dare vita a un trucco semplice ma audace, a una pennellata di colore per risaltare gli occhi senza esagerazioni.
Prodotto chiave, la Couture Palette in Lumière Majorelle di YSL con il suo tono più chiaro, un turchese brillantissimo che, nonostante sia stato pensato come highlighter, si presta benissimo anche a riempire la palpebra. Per bilanciare la forza dell’occhio il resto del make up non poteva che essere tenuto al minimo e per farlo ho perfezionato la pelle con due prodotti de L’Erbolario: il Primer Viso e la CC Cream all’acido ialuronico. A seguire ho usato la Remedy Concealer Pen di Marc Jacobs per correggere e illuminare. Per sostenere il blu ho poi spennellato all over un po’ di terra, un must se si ha la pelle olivastra come la mia. Ho scelto quella de L’Erbolario in quanto si stende facilmente e dona un’abbronzatura discreta e credibile.
Finita la base, si passa all’occhio. Per prepararlo immancabile è il Backstage Eye Prime di Dior che non solo prolunga la tenuta dell’ombretto ma previene che si accumuli nelle pieghe e ne risalta il colore. Per applicare l’ombretto ho usato il pennello di Bare Escentuals’ Double Ended Precision Brush che mi ha permesso sia di delineare con precisione la forma del mio occhio e di accentuarla verso l’angolo esterno ed interno sia di stendere più strati di colore con facilità. Poi, con il Pixi’s Crease Brush, ho sfumato il contorno per rendere il tutto un po’ più soft. Essendo l’azzurro un colore chiaro ho sottolineato le rime ciliari con la tonalità più scura della palette di YSL, il Sephora’s Classic Must Have Angled Liner Brush mi ha permesso di applicare il blu profondo vicinissimo all’attaccatura delle ciglia in modo da mettere in risalto gli occhi con discrezione. Questo step è fondamentale per fare anche apparire le ciglia più folte e, di conseguenza, saltare il mascara che appesantirebbe il look.
Tocco finale, il Face Gloss di Make picchiettato nell’angolo interno dell’occhio.
A concludere il look, poi, un mix delle ultime tre sfumature de Le Prismissime in Euphoric Pink di Givenchy sulle guance e una goccia di Chantecaille’s Liquid Lumière sul Cupid’s Bow.
Detto fatto. Se volete dare una cornice al look cercate un foulard in tono e legatelo sulla testa seguendo i consigli di Silk Knots, l’app di Hermes che vi guida nel mondo dei carré.

A wash of colour. Simple yet bold. This is my vision of the blue trend. I’ve been inspired by the Spring 2014 catwalk and the result is a mix of the boldness seen at Marc by Marc Jacobs, the bright turquoise shadow of Anna Sui and the Badgley Mischka’s glossy wash of aqua.
YSL’s Couture Palette in Lumière Majorelle was the key product to create the look and since the eyes were supposed to be so strong I kept the rest of the makeup simple. First I prepped the skin with L’Erbolario Primer to which I followed the brand’s CC Cream, then I concealed and highlighted with Marc Jacobs’ Remedy Concealer Pen and applied a bit of L’Erbolario’s bronzer all over the face for a healthy glow (that is absolutely needed to back up a blue hue if you have olive skin like me). Then I started the eye. To create the perfect canvas for the make-up I prepped the lids with Christian Dior’s Eye Primer (a must for my hooded lids) and then I applied the brightest shadow of the YSL’s Couture Palette In Lumière Majorelle (which should be meant for highlighting but, who cares, the hue is lovely) with Bare Escentuals’ Double Ended Precision Brush. I layered the colour several times dabbing and pressing it on the lid. To outline the colour block I simply followed my eye shape and exaggerated it in the outer and inner corner of the eyes. Then, with Pixi’s Crease Brush I blended the contour to make it more soft. In order to make the eyes pop I drew with Sephora’s Classic Must Have Angled Liner Brush a thin line using the darkest shade of the palette and I pressed a bit of it as well on the lower lash line.
To give a glossy effect I dabbed Make’s Face Gloss in the inner corner of the eyes. I used no mascara here, I only brushed the lashed and curled them with Shu Uemura’s S Curler. To finish the look I dabbed a drop of Chantecaille’s Liquid Lumiere on the cupid’s bow and I mixed on lips and cheeks the lasts three shades of the Givenchy’s Le Prismissime in Euphoric Pink.
That’s it. I’m no make-up pro so I kept things simple.
