The concealers battle
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Pale Yellow and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-5
When it comes to flawless skin your best friend is the concealer. If you are still looking for the best one in my opinion there is a short list of two on the market: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage.
Bobbi's is great, creamy and soft. It works both for blemishes and under eye darkness. The kit comes with a concealer and a fuss-free pressed powder to fix the result (use just a little bit, you don't want to look like a cake). I've always used this one for easy retouches, because it is simple and it blends easily, though I've to admit that sometimes I find it a bit too creamy. Which can be great when you need to maintain skin's moisture levels for a smooth, virtually line-less look but, if your skin tends to be oily, the final effect will be too dewy.
Therefore when it comes to pimples or stress eruptions I call in Laura Mercier's. More sophisticated then the first one, Mercier's comes with two concealer's colors in it (it offers no powder, though), it is long lasting, oil free and suits all skin type, even the sensitive ones. The bright side of having two shades is that you can blend them to achieve the perfect color to match you skin (and you don't have to be an artist to find it out). The larger panel of the Secret Camouflage kit (I'm using the SC-5) is filled with a yellow toned concealer and the smaller one with a pinker one. It does one job really well, it covers blemishes and the patches that need concealing thought it doesn't always work under your eyes. It is too dry for this purpose and, unless you have a perfect eye contour, it will make the fine lines pop out.
The solution would be having both the kits in your beauty case but, if you don't want too many products in it, I'll say go with Mercier's. I bet that you have something in your stash that fell in the illuminating category to fix your under eye either way!

Chi non ha per migliore amico un correttore alzi la mano. Io, personalmente, non posso farne a meno e, che sia per celare la stanchezza o per camuffare un’orrido sfogo, è sempre con me per un rapido retouch. La mia short list dei preferiti vede vincitori il Creamy Concealer di Bobbi Brown e il Secret Camouflage di Laura Mercier.
Il Creamy Concealer è fantastico, cremoso (appunto) e morbido. Funziona bene sia per le imperfezioni sia per le occhiaie. Il kit è composto da un correttore e da una cipria compatta che fissa il tutto (usatene poca se non volete sembrare una dama dell’Ottocento). Io ho sempre usato il Creamy Concealer per i ritocchi veloci perché è facile da usare e si fonde con la pelle senza troppi problemi ma - devo ammettere - che di tanto in tanto lo trovo un po’ troppo cremoso. Cosa che può essere favolosa se volete mimetizzare qualche ruga ma, se la vostra pelle tende ad essere grassa, l’effetto finale potrebbe essere troppo lucido.
Ecco perché quando si tratta di imperfezioni, sfoghi ormonali e affini chiamo in aiuto il Secret Camouflage di Laura Mercier. Più sofisticato del primo, quest’ultimo si presenta con due tonalità di correttore, offre una lunga tenuta, è oil free e si adatta a tutti i tipi di pelle, anche alle più sensibili. Il lato positivo di avere due diverse tonalità (una che vira al giallo e una più rosata) è che si possono mischiare insieme fino a raggiungere il colore della propria carnagione (operazione che non richiede particolari talenti artistici). Il Secret Camouflage è perfetto per coprire l’incopribile e lo fa perfettamente, ma non è indicatissimo per le occhiaie in quanto la sua texture è più secca del Creamy Concealer di Bobby Brown e tira fuori anche la più piccola ruga d’espressione.
La soluzione, quindi, sarebbe avere entrambi i correttori nel vostro beauty case ma, se non volete avere troppi prodotti in giro o se non volete spendere troppo, io vi consiglio di optare per il Secret Camouflage.
Scommetto che abbiate qualche penna illuminante da poter usare sotto gli occhi!
