Earthly shades took the center stage @ Milan Fashion Week AW14

Brown is the new colour to have, at least as far as it concern Milan Fashion Week beauty looks. A similar earthly vibe was noted as well in New York but in Milan it was definitely more evident. Used on cheeks, eyes, lips and even lashes it could seem old but rather it is wise and, if used properly and with a modern take, it delivers a natural and gorgeous finish.
At Ports 1961 Tom Pecheux inspiration seemed to be Jane Birkin. The skin was flawless and the brown accent was on the cheeks. Pecheux used Dandelion Compact Blush (it will hit the shelves next fall), a sludgy shade that delivers a transparent wash of post-holiday health to skin. Then he completed the look drawing a line of dark blue eyeliner on the upper lashes.
At Moschino brown was there with two products: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Give Me Sun and MAC's classic creamy Groundwork Paint Pot. Lucia Pieroni used the first one on the cheeks and nose and the second one to add definition to the eyes.

As far as the eyes a brown-red eyeshadow was used backstage at Etro (where Mark Carrasquillo created a glowing sun-kissed complexion using Sunbasque Powder Blush) and at Salvatore Ferragamo, where Diane Kendal for MAC Cosmetics blended the brown Natural Wilderness and the ochre Artificial Earth into the lids.

Backstage at Dolce&Gabbana Pat McGrath wanted brown on both eyes and lashes. To define the lids she used the new Perfect Mono Cream Eye Colour (on shelves this Fall) applying the brownish Cocoa in to the socket and the pearly white Innocence in the center and on the brow bone. Then she pulled out two tubes of mascara, Intenseyes in Black for the top lashes and Passioneyes in Terra, a brown shade, for the bottom. Lashes were given a touch of brown as well at Luisa Beccaria where, Michele Magnani, for MAC Cosmetics, applied a pair of faux lashes in the new it-shade to achieve e sophisticated, yet light gaze.
Backstage at Just Cavalli and Les Copains brown was exclusively used on the lids.

At Costume National brown was used to define the hollows of cheeks. MAC’s Bone Beige Sculpting Powder created a razor-sharp bone structure that paired perfectly with the dark chocolatey brows.

At Marni’s, Pecheux went wild using Siss Lipstick to contour cheekbones and temples and Myself on lips and on the apple of the cheeks.

As far as lips it was full of MAC’s Myself and Mocha Latte Lipstick (available from Fall 2014) in most of the backstage.
Is it worth trying? I think so.

Marrone è il nuovo must-have in fatto di bellezza. Visto sulle passerelle newyorkesi si è riconfermato a Milano dove i make-up artist lo hanno usato all over: dagli occhi alle labbra, fino a guance e zigomi. Può sembrare un colore mediocre, ma ha invece molte potenzialità, basta dargli un piglio moderno per fargli perdere la sua connotazione ‘old’ e riclassificarlo come asso nella manica per un look naturale e affascinante.
Da Ports 1961 Tom Pecheaux l’ha usato sulle guance. L’ispirazione Jane Birkin voleva una pelle flawless con un solo tocco di salute ottenuto grazie al Dandelion Compact Blush di MAC Cosmetics (che sarà in vendita dal prossimo autunno), una sfumatura fangosa che lavora in trasparenza per donare un finish baciato dal sole. Il look, pulito e moderno, è stato completato con una semplice riga di eyeliner blu notte.
Da Moschino il marrone è stato protagonista di guance e occhi. Lucia Pieroni, dopo aver creato una pelle glowing alla ‘Lindbergh’ ha usato il MAC Mineralize Skinfinish nella tonalità Give Me Sun su guance e naso, e l’evergreen Groundwork Paint Pot per definire gli occhi.
Un’ombretto marrone - con però riflessi rossastri - è stato usato anche da Etro, dove Mark Carrasquillo ha creato un un finish abbronzato ad hoc per ogni modella grazie a un mix di Sunbasque Powder Blush e altri prodotti scelti caso per caso. Da Salvatore Ferragamo, invece, Diane Kendal per MAC Cosmetics ha sfumato sulla palpebra l’ombretto marrone Natural Wilderness e quello ocra Artificial Earth.
Da Dolce & Gabbana, Pat McGrath ha voluto sfumature marroni su occhi e ciglia. In primis ha usato il nuovo Perfect Mono Cream Eye Colour (in vendita dal prossimo autunno) applicando la tonalità marrone - chiamata Cocoa - nella piega dell’orbita e quella bianco perlata - Innocence - al centro della palpebra e sotto l'arcata sopracciliare. Per le ciglia ha poi usato il mascara Intenseyes in Black su quelle superiori e il mascara marrone Passioneyes in Terra su quelle inferiori.
Sempre sulle ciglia il marrone è stato usato anche da Luisa Beccaria dove, Michele Magnani per Mac Cosmetics, ha voluto applicare delle ciglia finte nella tonalità in voga per un trucco sofisticato ma non pesante. Sulle palpebre il brown si è visto da Les Copains e da Just Cavalli.
Nel backstage di Costume National il prodotto di punta è stato il Bone Beige Sculpting Powder di MAC Cosmetics che ha dato vita a zigomi affilati che si sposavano perfettamente con le sopracciglia color cioccolato.
Da Marni Tom Pecheux si è scatenato usando il rossetto Siss per definire zigomi e tempie il Myself sulle labbra e sulle gote.
Per quando riguarda le labbra, appunto, si è visto un tripudio di rossetti nei toni del marrone e del beige, dal Myself al Mocha Latte di MAC Cosmetics (che saranno in vendita dal prossimo autunno), tutto nei backstage milanesi rimandava alla nuova sfumatura must-have.
