Faux bob and graphic eyes @ Dries Van Noten AW14

Dries Van Noten next fall collection was full of prints, bold combinations and forties-esque references. That’s why Peter Philips and Sam McKnight created an incredible beauty look, with a graphic element for the make-up and a forties feeling for the hair.
Philips wanted something that wouldn’t clash with the outfits so he focused on one single element: the eye. He swathed across the lid a onyx black, clean, angular shape that ended just past the corner of the eye. It was just a brush stroke of black that he created using MAC Chromacake in Black Black and Giorgio Armani Beauty's Eye Shader Brush.
Sam McKnight at the hair turned models’ tresses under for a faux bob, and added a slight wave to the front using a curling iron.
He created a braid at the nape to form an anchor and then used Fudge Salt Spray for dry matte texture. After applying a generous spritz of Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray he divided the hair in three sections, which were tied off the end with a band. He then rolled up each piece and secured it to the plait, allowing the shorter layers to frame the right side of the face. Echoing the metallic pieces in the clothing, McKnight slid a flat, silver-colored barette behind the left ear.

La collezione del prossimo inverno di Dries Van Noten è stata un tripudio di stampe, combinazioni audaci e richiami Anni Quaranta. Ecco perché il make-up è stato tenuto “sotto tono” concentrando l’attenzione su un solo elemento grafico. Peter Philips ha voluto qualcosa che non stridesse con gli abiti e per questo ha optato per un tratto nero e grafico che ha abbracciato le palpebre delle modelle partendo dall’angolo interno, accarezzando l’arcata sopracciliare e andando a finire poco dopo l’angolo esterno. Gli angoli smussati e il nero lo hanno reso bold e d’impatto. I prodotti usati per questo look sono stati due: il Chromacake in Black Black di MAC Cosmetics e il Beauty's Eye Shader Brush di Giorgio Armani.
Per quanto riguarda i capelli, Sam McKnight ha creato un faux bob di tutto rispetto per rendere omaggio al vibe Anni Quaranta della collezione.
Prima di tutto ha usato il Fudge Salt Spray per dare una texture opaca alle lunghezze, poi ha intrecciato una piccola treccia alla base del collo che gli è servita alla fine come “puntaspilli” per tenere fermo l’hairstyle. Dopo aver spruzzato all over l’Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ha diviso i capelli in tre ciocche che ha legato in basso con un elastico. Queste tre ciocche sono poi state arrotolate e puntate sulla treccia, lasciando libero qualche ciuffo (arricciato con il ferro) per incorniciare il lato destro del viso. A sinistra ha invece impreziosito il tutto con una barretta argentata che richiamava gli elementi metallici visti in passerella.
