Hair was very french, so much so that Sam McKnight on his Instagram account dubbed the style with the hashtags #hairrolls and #chanelcroissant while Tom Pecheux framed the eyes with a elongated double stroke that made a graphic statement.

Every season Karl Lagerfeld takes a different scenario to the next level and, after the high-end supermarket, the fashion demonstration and the origami garden this time he erected a full, functioning restaurant - Brasserie Gabrielle was the name, of course - at the Grand Palais. Complete with fruit bowls, café-au-lait (it couldn’t be more French then this) and unexpected bartenders the restaurant worked as a catwalk where models sported two different beauty looks: a boys-meet-girls one and a Parisian ladies at lunch for the other.

Ogni stagione Karl Lagerfeld trasforma la passerella in un vero e proprio set e, dopo il supermarket di lusso, la protesta fashion e il giardino di origami, questa stagione ha costruito un ristorante vero e proprio - chiamato, ovviamente, Brasserie Chanel - all’interno del Grand Palais. Con tanto di coppe di frutta, café-au-lait (più francese di così…) e inaspettati camerieri, il ristorante ha visto le modelle sfilare e sedersi al bar o ai tavolini a chiacchierare, il tutto mentre sfoggiavano due diversi beauty look: uno dal carattere androgino boys-meet-girls e un in stile ladies Parigine al brunch.

Flower Power, in stile Karl Lagerfeld, per la sfilata Chanel Haute Couture Printemps-Eté 2015. Nel contesto immancabilmente grandioso di un flower market fatto di origami surreali e fiori meccanici, le modelle hanno portano in passerella hairstyle degni di nota fissati (sotto notevoli copricapi con tanto di tulle e velette) in morbide trecce chiuse sul fondo da delicati fiori di stoffa. Sotto tutto questo grandeur spuntano ammiccanti labbra rosa-tulipano (per non perdere il fil rouge floreale) e sguardi avvolti in una nuvola taupe cha asseconda alla perfezione il mood stravagante dello spettacolo.

Per onorare l’indimenticabile couturier americano Charles James quest’anno il Met Gala è stato un tripudio di beauty look raffinati e d’antan. Tutte le star hanno calpestato il red carpet del Metropolitan Museum al meglio della loro forma ma coloro che hanno veramente centrato il punto della serata sono state Olivia Munn e Marion Cotillard. Le due celebs hanno infatti rinfrescato i loro look sfoggiando con nonchalance un paio di labbra arancioni all’ultimo grido andando così a dare un twist più che contemporaneo al fil rouge della serata.

If New York had been classy, London experimental and Milan a bit more edgy and daring than usual, in the City of Lights they tried different paths, all referring to an overall impression of resilient femininity. ‘Tough’ was the buzzword of the french season and it was translated in graphic shapes as sculptural hairstyles, illustrative, bold eye lines and excellent plays on light and shadow.

È finita anche la settimana della moda di Parigi e la nostra brama di nuove tendenze è stata finalmente soddisfatta. Se New York si è tenuta sul classico, Londra ha sperimentato e Milano ha osato più del solito, nella Ville Lumière hanno provato nuove strade che si sono riunite tutte sotto un’estetica di forte femminilità. “Duro” è stato l’aggettivo della stagione ed è stato tradotto in look grafici fatti di hairstyle scultorei, occhi dalle linee audaci e incredibili giochi di contouring.

Supermarket shopping will never be the same. Chanel’s AW14 show was bold, provocative and brilliant, it was a celebration of consumerism, from the ‘grand magasin’ set-up to the outfits. Lagerfeld’s message was crystal clear and as far as beauty’s concerned, we got the point: from now on it will be ok to go grocery shopping in Chanel tweed, whether it is worn as a coat or in the hair.

Grazie a Kaiser Karl, d’ora in poi andare al supermercato sarà un’esperienza molto meno banale. Per l’AI14 di Chanel, il direttore creativo della Maison, ha creato un allestimento da mille e uno scontrino, dando vita e brandizzando un intero supermercato, ubicato niente meno che al Grand Palais. Le modelle erano libere di sfilare fra le corsie e gli scaffali brandendo carrelli della spesa e cestini a catenella e indossando giacche di tweed e dreadlock couture adornati dallo stesso tessuto di lana.
